The Top Five Most Bone-Chilling Haunted Cemeteries in the United States

Since Halloween is coming up, we want to get into the spirit by exploring some of the spookiest haunted cemeteries in the U.S. After doing some research, and taking breaks for lighter content like puppies chewing on socks, we’ve come up with our top five most bone-chilling haunted cemeteries.
Below are our results, from the least to most spooky. Keep reading if you dare!
5. Hollywood Forever Cemetery in Los Angeles, California
Ranking at number five, we have the popular tourist site and outdoor movie spot Hollywood Forever Cemetery. It’s the home of many deceased celebrities, and you guessed it, ghosts. To add to the spooky factor, the cemetery is near Paramount Pictures Studio, which is believed to be one of the most haunted movie studios.
One common ghost siting is a crying woman at the lake located by the cemetery. As for her story, some people think it’s the ghost of an actress who died in 1921. Her death also is believed to be connected to another actor. Another common ghost siting is a woman in black who brings the actor Rudolph Valentino flowers. But the creepiest legend involves the actor Clifton Web who died in 1966. When near the Abbey of the Psalms mausoleum where he’s buried, people claim to hear whispers, see strange lights, have chills, or smell cologne.

4. Bonaventure Cemetery in Savannah, Georgia
With Savannah being one of the most haunted cities in America, you know it’s going to have some creepy cemeteries. One of the spookiest is Bonaventure Cemetery where people claim to see the ghost of six-year-old Gracie Watson who died of pneumonia. There’s an angel statue in her memory, which people claim to see tears of blood coming from the eyes.
But that’s not the only haunted statue! The cemetery also has other statues that people claim to see smiling at them. There also are reports of hearing babies crying, laughing children, and angry barking dogs.

3. Stull Cemetery in Douglas County, Kansas
This cemetery is said to be haunted by the devil, so how can you not include it on the list? Plus, its name is similar to “skull,” giving it an even more spooky vibe. It’s said that the devil visits the cemetery twice a year: on Halloween and the spring equinox. If that isn’t already creepy enough, it’s claimed to be the location of one of the seven gates to hell. Visitors also claim to hear strange noises and have memory loss after visiting.

2. St. Louis Cemetery No. 1 in New Orleans, Louisiana
Full disclosure, this cemetery’s final ranking was going to be number three, but my document started mysteriously glitching when I tried to bump it down a spot. So, I’m taking that as a sign that it deserves to be number two!
The cemetery has three sections, but the first one is the oldest and most haunted. There are several ghost stories, such as the ghost of Marie Laveau, the Voodoo Queen. People who don’t believe in her practices report they were scratched, pinched, or knocked down.
There’s also Henry Vignes, who went to sea and asked the owner of the boarding house to keep his papers in case he died, which included his family tombs. However, she sold them, and he died before he could do anything about it. So, people claim to have spoken to his ghost, and he asks them about the location of his family tombs.
Another common ghost story is Alphonse who people claim grabbed their hand and asked them to bring him home. People also claim to see his ghost taking flowers from other graves and placing them on his instead. As for his story, people think he was murdered by a member of the Pinead family. For this reason, people who go near the Pinead family tomb claim the ghost of Alphonse told them to stay away.

1. Union Cemetery in Easton, Connecticut
Our pick for the most haunted cemetery in America is Union Cemetery. While this was a tough decision, as all these cemeteries are spooky, we have our reasons. The main one being that there are so many reports of the same spooky siting that ghost hunters believe the ghost must be real.
The common siting is the White Lady ghost, who appears in a white nightgown or wedding dress. Someone even claimed to hit the White Lady with his car, but when he got out, she was nowhere to be found. No one knows her story, but one idea is that she’s searching for her son who died before her.
