<p><p>Karl “SIP” Sipperley, 55, passed away unexpectedly on January 18, 2026, in Rhinebeck, NY.</p><p><br></p><p>Karl was born on April 3, 1970, in Rhinebeck, NY, to the late Zora “Lori” Larson Sipperley and Peter F. Sipperley of Rhinebeck. Lori passed away January 11, 2010. </p><p><br></p><p>He graduated from Rhinebeck High School in 1988 and went on to attend Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute for several years before returning home to Rhinebeck, a place he always held close.</p><p><br></p><p>Karl’s life was guided by his passions, especially his love of videography. He shared that talent generously, volunteering with PANDA and serving as an integral part of the Old Rhinebeck Aerodrome, where he created videos that helped preserve its history and spirit. He was active at St. John’s Episcopal Church in Barrytown and was a proud member of the Sons of the American Legion in Rhinebeck.</p><p><br></p><p>Karl treasured time spent with his family and could often be found by his father’s side, the two working together or simply sharing in their many common interests—a bond that meant a great deal to them both. Karl had a love of history, science, photography, astronomy, and aviation. He also enjoyed fishing and all kinds of music. </p><p><br></p><p>Karl is survived by his father, Peter Sipperley, many loving family members, and friends who will deeply miss his quiet presence, kind heart, and creative spirit. </p><p><br></p><p>In lieu of flowers people may donate to the American Legion 429, Rhinebeck, NY 12572 (Address check to Montgomery Post 429, American Legion) or Old Rhinebeck Aerodrome PO Box 229 Rhinebeck, New York 12572 or St. John’s the Evangelist Episcopal Church 1114 River Road Red Hook, NY 12571. </p><p><br></p><p>Friends and family will be received on Friday, January 30, 2026, from 3 to 5PM at Burnett &amp; White Funeral Home, 91 East Market Street, Rhinebeck. Pastor Mary Grace Williams will lead in a funeral service beginning at 5PM.</p><p><br></p><p>Funeral arrangements are entrusted to Burnett &amp; White Funeral Homes, 91 E. Market Street, Rhinebeck, NY 12572.</p><p><br></p></p>
