<p>Lionel Cyril Bastien passed peacefully at the Pontiac Community Hospital, Shawville, Quebec on the morning of March 28, 2026 at the age of 81. He leaves to mourn his wife of 60 years, Mary Maheral. Lionel was the son of the late Benoit Bastien and Elizabeth Trudeau and son-in-law of the late John Maheral and Iphignie LaSalle.</p><p>Lionel leaves behind his children, Vaughan (Cathy), Lawanda (Alain) and Shane (Mirella).</p><p><br></p><p>Grandfather to Sarah, Dustin, Mallory, Malcolm, William and Rayne and great grandfather to 5. Step grandfather to Melissa, Jon, and Ben Nyveld. Lionel will be fondly remembered by his family; Sandra, Dianne (Bob), Anne (Paul), Claude and Brenda (Jeff) and predeceased by his sister Jeanette.&nbsp; Lionel was a brother-in-law to Beatrice (Em), Clarence (Carolyn), Raymond (late Louise), Bernadette (late Richard), Joan (late Brent), Richard, Victor (Heather) and John (late Sharon). He is predeceased by sisters-in-law Francis (Brian), Julie (John), Rita (Clarence), Helen (Eric) and Cathy (Jack). He will be remembered by many nieces and nephews.</p><p><br></p><p>Lionel worked as a labourer at the Calumet Mines and then for Gary Wilson Tire before opening his own business.</p><p>Lionel was an avid outdoorsman, hunting and fishing was on his mind to the very end. He also liked to golf and really enjoyed a good game of cards.</p><p><br></p><p>Arrangements will be announced at a later date.</p><p><br></p>
