Obituary
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our dear Mom, Sharon Louise Kerr, on Monday, March 30, 2026, surrounded by love in Hospice Cape Breton.
Sharon was born in North River, Victoria County, and was the daughter of the late John and Laura Kerr. She was the extremely proud Mom to Brent (Leeanne) and the elated Grandmother to Emma (Jesse) the “Apple of her eye”. Sharon was predeceased by her brother and sister-in-law, Merrill (Carol) Kerr and stepbrother, John Peter. Sharon will be missed by her lifelong friend, Colleen MacMullin, her extended family, stepmother Betty, stepsisters Janet (Peter), Elaine (Paul), Noreen (Robbie) and stepbrother Philip (Cathy). Sharon will be fondly remembered by her dear nieces, nephews, and special cousins.
Sharon’s career at League Savings extended over 25 years where she was a well-respected administrator. During the summer months, Sharon could be found on her sit-on mower grooming her prized winning yard. She loved beautifying her property. Her passion & love for plants, flowers and gardening was evident. Sharon also enjoyed her special bond with her weekly gym friends, spending her time travelling our beautiful island and her quiet time with her two special kitties.
Sharon was an exceptional strong, vibrant, and independent lady who loved her “small yet mighty” family fiercely. Special thanks and gratitude to Dr Melanie Adams, Dr Kate MacInnis, Dr Ann Frances D’Intino, her special nurse, Brett Gillis, Jill Murphy, all the staff and nurses at Hospice Cape Breton, Cape Breton Cancer Centre, VON and TJ Tracey Cremation and Burial Specialists.
Cremation has taken place under the care and direction of T.J. Tracey Cremation and Burial Specialists, 6 Churchill Drive, Sydney, NS, 902-539-7175. Visitation will be on Tuesday, April 7th from 6pm-8pm at the funeral home. Funeral Service will be held at United Protestant Church in Sydney River on Wednesday, April 8th at 11am with Rev Dana Feltmate officiating. Reception to follow.
In lieu of flowers, donation in Sharon’s memory can be made to Cape Breton Cancer Society, Hospice Cape Breton, or Sydney SPCA.
Gone from our sight, but never from our Hearts!
