Helen W. Reed
<p>Helen Winifred (Harper) Reed, formerly of Modoc, Indiana, passed away peacefully on April 3, 2026 leaving behind a legacy of dedication to her family, faith, and community. She was born on March 10, 1929, in Winchester, Indiana, to Walter and Geraldine (Stults) Harper.</p><p><br></p><p>Helen devoted many years of service to her community through her work in the auditing department at Merchants National Bank and later at the Delaware County Extension Office. She was known for her strong work ethic, kindness, and commitment to helping others.</p><p><br></p><p>A woman of deep faith, Helen was a longtime member of Yorktown Methodist Church and in her later years attended Glad Tidings Church, where she found great comfort and fellowship.</p><p><br></p><p>Helen is survived by her loving children: daughter Pamela Reed; son Brent Reed and his wife Elaine; and son Brad Reed. She was a proud grandmother to Holly Amick and her husband Andrew, Lindsey Reed, Chelsey Swails and her husband John, Nicholas Holliday and his wife Vanessa and granddaughter-in-law Laura Reed.</p><p>She was a great-grandmother to 13.</p><p><br></p><p>She was preceded in death by her parents; her grandson, Josh Reed; and her great-grandson, Lincoln Swails.</p><p><br></p><p>Helen will be remembered for her devotion to her Lord Jesus, to her family, her gentle spirit, and the love she shared with all who knew her.</p><p><br></p><p>The family would like to express their deepest gratitude to Southern Care Hospice and especially to nurses Patty and Jamie, aide Bella, and Chaplain Mark.</p><p><br></p><p>A funeral service will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Tuesday, April 7, 2026, at The Meeks Mortuary and Crematory, Mt. Pleasant Chapel, 7901 W. Isanogel Rd., Muncie, IN 47304. Lt. Colonel Richard and Vicki Amick, Salvation Army will officiate and burial will follow at Hawk Cemetery.</p><p><br></p><p>Friends and family may call from 11:00 a.m. until the time of service on Tuesday, April 7, 2026, at The Meeks Mortuary and Crematory, Mt. Pleasant Chapel, 7901 W.
