Obituary
Carol Womble, 83, of Duluth, Georgia, formerly of Leeton, Missouri, passed away, Thursday, May 14, 2026.
She was born December 20, 1942, in San Francisco, California, daughter of Earl Perkins, Jr., and Mary M Perkins, both who preceded her in death. She grew up on a Holstein dairy farm east of Windsor, Mo, and worked hard , even having to walk a mile and 1/2 home from school as there were no school buses then. She was always having adventures, one of which was bringing home a baby raccoon she found in an old dead tree about a mile from home. She installed it in the house for the night and after it cried loudly all night, Mother told her that she was to take animal back to the place she found it.
She graduated from Windsor High School, went on to college at CMSC and from there began her work career in Kansas City, Mo for Ashgrove Lime and Cement Co.
On June, 1970, she married Art Schultz, to this union was born one son, Jeff Schultz, in July 1973. She was a working mother and had many jobs as Jeff grew up.
On August 9, 1997, she married Larry Womble, who preceded her in death on November 8, 2019.
She returned to college at the University of Central Missouri in Warrensburg in 1999 and resumed her studies, completing 60 hours of college credits. She then went on to become the assistant to the director of the Art Department for the next 10 years. She and Larry both retired to their farm near Leeton, Mo., and enjoyed farm life until his death in 2019 . She was a member of Windsor Mo garden club, Petal Pushers, and was a Master Gardner. She and Larry planted fruit trees and she grew amazing flowers, with never a weed to be found in them.
She lived on their farm two years after Larry's death and then moved to Duluth, Georgia, to be
near her son, Jeff.
Surviving are her son, Jeff, of Duluth, Ga.; her brother Terry Perkins (Shirley) of Salem, Mo.; and her sister, Jeanne Nance (Ray), of Collins, Mo. Also surviving is Rick Womble (Kathy), Sedalia, Mo., and their children, Matthew and Kristen Womble, to whom she was a Godmother. Surviving also are nephew David Perkins (Amber) of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, and their children Ben and Grace; niece, Natalie Manier (Chuck) of Houston, Mo., and their son, Waylon; and nephew Marty Box (Tammy) of Green Ridge, Mo., and their children Kayden, LC Rae and Avery Box.
Graveside services will be 2:30 pm, Friday, May 22, 2026, at the Laurel Oak Cemetery, Windsor, with Pastor Pete Hill officiating. Visitation will be 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. on Friday before the service at the Hadley Funeral Home, Windsor. The family suggests contributions to the Windsor High School Master Scholarship Endowment Fund (check payable to WHS MSEF) in Carol's memory in care of the funeral home.
