Glendoris Bergheim
<p>Glendoris “Dorie” Bergheim, age 92, of Howard, South Dakota, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her loving family, at Good Samaritan Society in Howard on June 16, 2026. Funeral Services will be, 1:30 PM, Monday, June 22, 2026 at Bethany Lutheran Church in Howard. Interment will follow at Belleview Cemetery. Visitation will begin at noon, prior to the funeral service.</p><p><br></p><p>Glendoris was born on January 28, 1934 in Lake Wilson, Minnesota, to Martin and Hazel (Wigton) Ravenberg. As a young girl, she moved with her family to the Howard area, where they settled on a farm northeast of Howard in 1948. She attended school in the Howard area and graduated from high school in 1952. Following graduation, Glendoris worked at the Miner County Courthouse before beginning the role that would define much of her life—devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and homemaker.</p><p><br></p><p>On March 18, 1955, Glendoris was united in marriage to the love of her life, Odell Bergheim, in Howard. Together they built a life on the family farm, raising their children and sharing nearly 60 years of marriage until Odell's passing in 2014.</p><p><br></p><p>Family was the center of Glendoris’s life. She was a loving and dedicated mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother who found her greatest joy in caring for those she loved. She was known for her kind and loving nature, her warm smile, and her welcoming home. Glendoris enjoyed cooking and baking for family gatherings, tending flowers and orchids, helping on the farm, and caring for chickens and livestock. She treasured the time she spent with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, and many family members were blessed to have been cared for by her throughout the years. She also enjoyed watching the birds and those mischievous squirrels.</p><p><br></p><p>A lifelong woman of faith, Glendoris was active in the Ladies Aid at Belleview Lutheran Church and remained devoted to her church family throughout her life. Following the closing of Belleview, she attended Bethany Lutheran Church.</p><p><br></p><p>Grateful for having shared her life are her children: Judy (Greg Hysom) Bergheim of Palmer, AK; Jo Hanson of Howard; Scott (Susie Pham) Bergheim of Howard; Mary Hanson of Howard; June (Wayne Larsen) Bergheim of Madison; nine grandchildren; sixteen great-grandchildren; sisters Violet Hughes of Howard and Laura Richter of Sioux Falls; along with many nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.</p><p><br></p><p>Glendoris was preceded in death by her husband, Odell Bergheim; her parents, Martin and Hazel Ravenberg; one son, Jeremy Bergheim; and one son in law, Duane Hanson.</p><p><br></p><p>Glendoris will be remembered for her unwavering love for family, her gentle spirit, her strong work ethic, and the smile she always seemed to wear.
