<p>Louise Smith, age 82, of Ellijay, Georgia, passed away peacefully on June 16, 2026. She was born on December 24, 1943, to the late E.B. and Frances Shirley.</p><p><br></p><p>Louise was a devoted woman who loved her family and friends dearly. She found joy in life's simple pleasures, especially playing bingo, working in her yard, gardening, and canning the fruits of her labor. She was happiest when she was caring for others, always putting the needs of family, friends, and neighbors before her own. Her nurturing spirit and generous heart touched countless lives throughout the years.</p><p><br></p><p>Known affectionately by those who loved her as a true "pistol ball," Louise was feisty, determined, and full of life. She was a fighter and a survivor who faced life's challenges with strength, courage, and an unwavering spirit. Her quick wit, resilience, and loving nature made her unforgettable to all who knew her.</p><p><br></p><p>Above all, Louise cherished her family and treasured every moment spent with them. Her love, strength, and caring heart will continue to live on in the lives she touched. She will be remembered with love and greatly missed by her family and friends.</p><p><br></p><p>In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Buddy Smith; daughter, Judy Givens; son, Allen Smith; several brothers and sisters.</p><p><br></p><p>Louise is survived by her daughter, Donna Johnson (Ken); grandchildren, Jeremiah Johnson (Heather), Joseph Johnson (Lindsay), JoAnna Sumner (Justin), Chris Givens (Carrie) and Megan Givens; thirteen great-grandchildren, Andrew, Bradley, Patrick, Lincoln, Bennett, Faith, Evie, Aidyn, Gracie, Zoey, Logan, Olivia and Kiera; siblings, Bobby Shirley, Amos Shirley, Linda Knowles, Geneva Waters, Annette Weaver and Buddy Shirley; as well as a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.</p><p><br></p><p>Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, June 20, 2026 at the Sosebee Memorial Chapel with Rev. Trammel Rhodes officiating. Interment will follow in Chalcedonia Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday, June 19th from 3:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. and Saturday, June 20th from 11:00 a.m. until the funeral hour.</p><p><br></p><p>In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to Children's Healthcare of Atlanta at choa.org.</p><p><br></p><p>Sosebee Funeral Home, Canton, Georgia is honored to serve the family of Louise Smith.
