<p>Doris M. (Hagar) Mickelson, 96, passed away at The Suites at Beloit on Saturday, June 20, 2026.</p><p><br></p><p>Doris was born in Janesville, WI to Charles and Eleanor Hagar. She attended Janesville public schools and was graduated from Janesville High School in 1948. After graduation, she entered Mercy Hospital Nursing School and became an RN in 1951.</p><p><br></p><p>Doris married Chauncey Mickelson August 25, 1951 and moved to Carthage, IL where he attended Carthage College. She was hired as the School Nurse at Carthage until his graduation in 1952. After the birth of their three sons, she returned to nursing at Beloit Memorial Hospital from 1958 until 1962.&nbsp;Active in the PTA at Cunningham Elementary School in Beloit, Doris also served as the organization’s president for one year. She began working for Sears in Beloit in 1965 until her retirement in 1985.</p><p><br></p><p>In their retirement years they spent winters in Florida and Arizona and had a travel trailer at Turtle Lake near Delavan, WI, where they enjoyed spending their summers. She also loved playing cards and was a member of two different card clubs in Beloit.</p><p><br></p><p>Doris was preceded in death by her husband Chauncey in 2022, just one month short of their seventy-first Anniversary.</p><p>Survivors include her three sons, Robert (Diane), of Westminster CO, Steven (Marianne), of West Des Moines IA, Ronald (Mary Beth), of Rockford, IL, five grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.</p><p><br></p><p>Doris’ family thanks the Suites at Beloit staff who cared for both her and Chauncey over the years and Beloit Regional Hospice for their caring assistance in Doris’ final days and weeks.</p><p><br></p><p>Doris will be buried next to Chauncey in Oakwood Cemetery in Beloit in a small family ceremony.</p><p><br></p><p>Donations in her memory suggested to Beloit Regional Hospice.&nbsp;</p>
