<p><b>Akron -</b> Geraline "Gerri" P. Powell, 89, loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother passed away on Monday, June 22, 2026.</p><p><br></p><p>Gerri was born Sunday, January 24, 1937 to the late Claude and Maycel (Herron) Tharpe. She enjoyed playing cards, reading, soap operas. and loved her family and friends dearly.</p><p><br></p><p>In addition to her parents, Geraline was preceded in death by her husband of 34 years, Ernest "Ernie" Powell; and youngest daughter, Cynthia Powell.</p><p><br></p><p>She is survived by her daughters, Marlene Powell and Yulonda (Buddy) Williams; grandchildren, Dustin Antal, LeeAnne (Nicholas) McCabe; great-grandchildren, Violet and Aurora Pearl McCabe; special niece, Thelma Powell; and many other loving family and friends.</p><p><br></p><p>Visitation will be on Thursday, June 25, 2026 10:00 am to 12:00 pm at Bacher-Moore Funeral Home, 3326 Manchester Road, Akron, Ohio 44319 with a funeral service immediately following at 12 p.m. Interment will follow at Greenlawn Memorial Park.</p><p><br></p><p>In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital (<a href="//stjude.org/donate" title="St. Jude Children's Research">stjude.org/donate</a>), or Haven of Rest Ministries (<a href="//donate.havenofrest.org" title="Haven of Rest">donate.havenofrest.org</a>), in memory of Geraline P. Geri was a special patient for over 30 years and the sweetest lady. I always enjoyed our conversations. She will be greatly missed!! My heartfelt condolences to her family.
