<p>Jon Balk, of Baltimore, Maryland, passed away on Thursday, July 2nd, 2026, at the age of 61. He is survived by his beloved wife, Candy Powder-Balk; adoring daughters, Dr. Jenna Balk and Jill (Alex) Pucci; loving grandmother, Flossie Snyder; dear aunt, Dee Josephs; devoted cousins, Jeffrey and Corinne Gulin, Stuart and Joan Schoenfeld, and Lisa Affayroux; and treasured four legged best friends, Moose, Rolly, Goose, and Baby. He was predeceased by his cherished granddaughter, Jasey Rae Pucci; and loving parents, Thea and Louis Balk.</p><p><br></p><p>Our Jonathan David Balk was truly one of a kind. He lit up every room he entered and was the most kind-hearted and selfless husband, father, and friend. His big heart, warm personality, and unforgettable sense of humor will be deeply missed by everyone who knew and loved him.</p><p><br></p><p>Despite his illness, Jon fought with incredible strength and determination every single day until the very end. None of us have ever witnessed such extraordinary courage, and his bravery will inspire us always.</p><p><br></p><p>Services at Sol Levinson's Chapel, 8900 Reisterstown Road, Pikesville, MD 21208, on Thursday, July 9th, 2026, at 12pm. Interment Beth Tfiloh Cemetery. Contributions in his memory may be sent to Frisky's Wildlife and Primate Sanctuary, Inc., 10790 Old Frederick Road / Rt. 99, Woodstock, MD 21163, or to Maryland SPCA, 3300 Falls Road, Baltimore, MD 21211. The family will be in mourning at 254 Candytuft Road, Reisterstown, MD 21136, on Thursday following the interment until 6pm, will continue receiving guests on Friday and Saturday from 12pm to 4pm and 6pm until 8pm.</p>
