Luella Jane Elmore Rucker
<p><p>Luella Jane (Woods) Elmore Rucker, 95, of Clendenin, West Virginia, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, July 7, 2026, at her home.</p><p><br></p><p>Luella was born February 6, 1931, at Reamer, WV, a daughter of the late Oley W. and Lula Mae (White) Woods.</p><p><br></p><p>Luella was a loving wife, mother, sister and friend. She attended Clendenin High School and married the love of her life, Fred Ervin Elmore, on February 13, 1947. Luella was a homemaker who loved taking care of her family and spending time in her garden. Most of all, she loved God. She attended Queen Shoals Community Church where she found joy in playing the piano and spreading God’s word through songs.</p><p>Luella never met a stranger and always found joy in helping others. She was dearly loved and will be missed by everyone who knew her.</p><p><br></p><p>In addition to her parents, Luella was preceded in death by her first husband, Fred Ervin Elmore; her second husband, Roy Rucker; daughter, Alice J. Elmore; grandson, Travis L. Meadows; great-grandson, Isaak Stephen Stricker; brother, Oley Daniel Woods; sisters, Reba Casto, Delcie Blackwell, Jean Byrd, Ruby Hall, Louise Young, and Naomi Cox.</p><p><br></p><p>She is survived by sons, Hershel L. (Gay) Elmore of Walton, WV; Jerry W. Elmore, Stephen D. (Rose) Elmore, and Timothy E. Elmore all of Clendenin, WV; daughter, Charlene J. (Richard) Smith of Charleston, WV; sisters, Virginia (Ogie) Samples of Bomont, WV and Barbara Joan Chrisfield of Virginia; 18 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren, 6 great-great-grandhchildren; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.</p><p><br></p><p>A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, July 15, 2026, at 2:00 p.m., at Stump-Matics Funeral Home, with Pastor Scott Means officiating. Visitation will be at the funeral home one hour prior tot the service. She will be laid to rest at Rucker-Shafer Cemetery. Funeral arrangements are in the care of Stump-Matics Funeral Home, 8539 Elk River Road North, Clendenin, West Virginia 25045.
