Leroy T. McCurry

<p>Leroy T. McCurry, 91, of Akron passed away peacefully at his home on July 3, 2026. Born in Barberton, Ohio on December 30, 1934 to the late Nick and Dorothy (Thompson) McCurry.</p><p><br></p><p>Leroy graduated from Coventry High School (1952) and worked for Babcock &amp; Wilcox where he started in the mailroom and worked up to a Sales System Analyst retiring after 46 years. Leroy enjoyed fishing, hunting and his Cleveland Indians. He also enjoyed dancing with the ladies at the Royal Gardens and Turkeyfoot Sportsman Club and enjoyed a cold MGD.</p><p><br></p><p>Leroy was preceded in death by his beloved wife Joann of 37 years and his second wife Connie (Davis) of 11 years. Leroy’s memory will always be cherished by his children Tom (Sharon), David (Carol), Kathy Mooring (Vann), Dan, and Susan; grandchildren Mike, Todd, Brandi, Christina, Brandon, Jackson, Ryan, Nick, Melana, and Julian; great grandchildren Rylie, Grace, and Connor.</p><p><br></p><p>Funeral service will be held at 1 PM on Friday July 10, 2026, at Schermesser Eberhardt Funeral Home, 600 E. Turkeyfoot Lake Road, Akron, Ohio 44319. Family and friends may visit from 11-1 PM on Friday, prior to the service. Burial will take place at Clinton Cemetery. A Celebration of Life will be held after the funeral at Turkeyfoot Sportsman Club from 3-6 PM. The family requests that you dress casually and wear your favorite Indians attire. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Turkeyfoot Sportsman Club Building Fund, 4551 Dustys Road, Akron, Ohio 44319.</p><p><br></p>
