It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Chester Dean Dottry, 72, of Belton, South Carolina, who passed away peacefully at his home, surrounded by his loving family and friends, on Wednesday, July 8, 2026.</p><p><br></p><p>Born in Anderson, South Carolina, on December 16, 1953, he was the son of the late Chester M. and Olga B. Dottry. </p><p><br></p><p>Chester graduated from Crescent High School and dedicated 42 years of service to Owens Corning Fiberglass as a maintenance technician, where he was known for his strong work ethic and commitment. He was a man of remarkable skill, known for his craftsmanship and ability to fix anything that came his way. </p><p><br></p><p>Chester attended Barkers Creek Baptist Church in Honea Path. He was grounded in his faith and loved the Lord. He found great joy in God's creation and spent countless hours outdoors. An avid hunter and fisherman, he especially loved working on his farm, where he found peace and fulfillment.</p><p><br></p><p>Above all, Chester treasured his family. He was a devoted father and a proud "Papa" to his grandchildren, creating lasting memories through his unwavering love, guidance, and quiet strength. His family was his greatest blessing.</p><p><br></p><p>Chester possessed a servant's heart and reflected the love of Christ in the way he treated everyone he met. His warm smile could brighten any room, and his gentle, compassionate spirit touched countless lives. He was a man of integrity, kindness, and humility whose legacy of faith, love, and generosity will continue to live on through those who knew him. He will be deeply missed and forever cherished. His keen sense of humor brightened the days of all who were fortunate enough to know him and his friendship was treasured by many. </p><p><br></p><p>Chester's legacy lives on through his beloved children, Amanda Reed (Jacob), Brittany Fenten (Josh), Clifford King (Crystal), and Tony Bruce. He was a proud and devoted grandfather to seven cherished grandchildren: Jade McCoy (Josh), Jacob Reed II (Bailey), Joshua Rex Fenten II, Riley Fenten, Caroline King, Thomas King, and Charlotte King. His family was further blessed by four great-grandchildren, who brought him much joy.</p><p><br></p><p>He is also survived by his loving siblings, Annette McCullough, Janet Wright, Dona Shiflette, his twin brother, Lester Dottry (Kimberly), Henry Dottry (Lynn), and Daniel Dottry. In addition to his family, Chester leaves behind his dear friend, Joby Harris, whose friendship was a treasured part of his life.</p><p><br></p><p>The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to Cliff and Crystal King, who’s loving care in their own home allowed Chester to spend his final years surrounded by those he loved. Their compassion and dedication extended Chester’s time with his family, a gift for which they are eternally grateful. </p><p><br></p><p>A funeral service will be held at 3:00 pm on Tuesday, July 14, 2026, at Barker's Creek Baptist Church, 3207 SC-252, Honea Path, SC 29654. Rev. Wesley Taylor will officiate.</p><p><br></p><p>Visitation will be held prior to the service from 2:00 pm - 3:00 pm in the church sanctuary.</p><p><br></p><p>Flowers will be accepted, or memorial contributions may be made to Barkers Creek Baptist Church or The Michael J.
