Joanne Elizabeth Power
<p>With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Joanne Elizabeth Power, on May 18, 2026, at the age of 71.</p><p><br></p><p>Born and raised in Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island, Joanne carried the beauty and spirit of the island with her throughout her life. She found joy and peace in nature and loved spending time outdoors. This included hiking in the Gatineau Hills, cycling along the Rideau Canal, kayaking, or simply taking in the fresh air and beauty around her.</p><p><br></p><p>Joanne had a special place in her heart for animals. Her kindness and compassion extended to every creature she met, and she brought warmth and gentleness into the lives of both people and pets alike.</p><p><br></p><p>Joanne enjoyed cheering on her favourite sports teams and never missed a good curling match. She cherished life’s simple comforts: meaningful conversations, time spent with loved ones, and a good cup of tea (or 2). She will be remembered for her generosity, humour, quick wit, and enduring strength, and will be deeply missed by all who knew her.</p><p><br></p><p>Loving mother of Ashley (Giacomo) and Jeff (Jody), and special Nanny to her favourite fur grandbaby Kef. They will forever carry her love, wisdom, and memory in their hearts. Joanne is survived by her siblings: Colleen MacDonald (Lea), David Power (Ronalda), Trish Power (Dianne), and sister-in-law Lillian Power. Also remembered by several nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Predeceased by her parents Thomas Reginald Power and Catherine Emma Power (Prowse) and her brother George Reginald 'Reg' Power.</p><p><br></p><p>Special thanks to the staff at the Ottawa General Hospital (6 East and Intensive Care Unit), Bayshore Home Care, and Bruyère Health Saint-Vincent Hospital for their kindness and providing Joanne with exceptional care.</p><p><br></p><p>At Joanne's request, there will be no funeral service. A memorial celebration for Joanne’s life will be held at Hennessey Cutcliffe Charlottetown Funeral Home on Monday, July 27, 2026, from 11-1pm Family and friends are invited to wear something blue, as that was Joanne's favourite colour. If so desired, memorial contributions can be made to your favourite pet or animal rescue.</p>Obituary
