Helen Lousie DuBon

<p>Helen Louise Rowles DuBon died at home July 8, 2026, having exhausted her battle with ovarian cancer for three years. She beat breast cancer 15 years ago.</p><p><br></p><p>She was born October 25, 1952 in Coitsville, Ohio to Mary Gale Deterding Rowles (d. 1984) and Raymond Rowles (d.1985). She graduated from North High School in 1970 and attended secretarial school in Youngstown. She enjoyed reading, sewing/knitting/crocheting, playing with dogs and cards with family, and frolicking with the horses in the back pasture, where she lived on Cooper Road. She has won several awards for horsemanship. Helen’s cognitive prowess came to life in play as she was pretty good on the pool table.</p><p><br></p><p>Later in the 80s, with her two sons Donald and Kenneth DuBon in tow, she ventured to Colorado where she worked retail and turned her mathematical talents toward creative endcaps and shelving inventory – dominating sales at the various box stores she worked. Helen would work two or three jobs as needed to keep her sons full in life; she made sure the boys had what they needed, and some of what they thought they wanted.</p><p><br></p><p>Helen’s greatest joy was sharing time and space with her sons and her dogs. She loved conversation and coaching and encouraging her boys and befriending her canines. Donald would say, “Mom made us smart enough to learn our lessons on the first few tries.” She tried to find the good in everyone, but those who needed it got it. Her friends could always call her for help.</p><p><br></p><p>She remained a lifelong reader and engaged in thought-provoking dialogue with those she encountered. Helen carried a free spirit, remained true to core values laid out in early family/church life, and marked many conversations with her infectious laughter.</p><p><br></p><p>How much she is missed beggars description. But her fight is over. The pain and suffering are gone.</p><p><br></p><p>Her rest can begin anew. Her happiness can blossom and grow in GOD'S eternal light, and she will wait for us and look after us. Additionally, she is survived by cousins: Cliff Wire (Ohio), Gale Wire (Florida), Ed Wire (South Carolina).</p><p><br></p><p>Helen, please know, the boys miss you terribly and are grateful for the life you gave them.</p><p><br></p><p>Love you, bye Mom!!</p>
