Filiberto “Fil” Costales was a caring father, husband, grandfather, great grandfather, bother and friend. He went to be with the Lord on July 11, 2026 at 07:40 AM. He was 90 years old. He was one of three brothers and one sister, born to Carmelina and Pedro Costales on August 20, 1935 in Havana, Cuba. After graduating from high school, he started flight school, but the government in Cuba had different plans. He met our beloved mother Maria and got married. He worked at Hotel Capri in Havana. He had his first two children, Cary and Ileana. He later come to the United States with his wife and the two girls in 1966 and settled in Union City, New Jersey. Five years later, they had their third child, Philip. He work 30+ years for Ford Motor Company as Quality Control Lead. When he retired shortly before then moved to Monroe Township in 2002.

Fil loved spending time with friends and family. He started collecting dye-cast race cars and antiques cars and loved it. He was a good hearted person. He had a strong persistent character. With no question, anyone that needed anything, he was the first one there. He is the definition of giving the shirt off his back. Even if it left him with nothing. He provided us with anything and everything we needed, even as adults. He worked very hard for us, with no help from anyone. He was there for everyone, but he never asked for any help. He had an incredible work ethic. We could not have asked for a better father, grandfather, friend. He will reside with all of us forever and be our guardian angel.

Our guardian angel will be remembered by his children Cary, Ileana, Philip and his grandchildren Michele, Ryan, Kevin, Justin, Brianna, Christopher, Kaitlyn and his great grandchildren Brennon, Ethan and Mia.

Visitation will be from 4:00-8:00 pm on Wednesday July 15, 2026 and from 8:45-9:15 am on Thursday July 16, 2026 at the M.
