Obituary
James Ray Swartzbaugh, Jr., 86, of Westminster, died Friday, July 10, 2026, at BridgingLife Dove House. Born March 5, 1940 in Carroll County, he was the son of the late James Ray Swartzbaugh, Sr. and Dorothy (Barber) Swartzbaugh. He was the beloved husband of the late Bonnie LaRue Swartzbaugh.
Before retiring he was employed 49 years at Southern Mechanical. He was a member of Pleasant Valley Lions Club, life member of Pleasant Valley Community Fire Company and member of Deer Park United Methodist Church. He enjoyed family, bingo, golf and going to the casino.
He is survived by children James R. Swartzbaugh III (Amy), Michael L. Swartzbaugh (Susan) and Tammy B. Swartzbaugh Mize (Mark), sister Beverly Kinser, brother Lewis Swartzbaugh, grandchildren Amanda (Jeff), Sara (Sterling), James IV (Jesse), Tyler (Anastasia) and Jaymee, great-grandchildren James C., Oakleigh, Emma, Joseph, Bayleigh and Jacob.
He was predeceased by brothers Kenneth and Donald Wayne Swartzbaugh.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday, July 14, 2026 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. and Wednesday, July 15, 2026 from 10 to 11 a.m. at Fletcher Funeral & Cremation Services, 254 E. Main St., Westminster. Funeral services will begin at 11 a.m. on Wednesday.
Interment will follow at Evergreen Memorial Gardens in Finksburg.
