<p>Joela Mae Lobmeyer, 17, of Garden City, KS died on July 9th, 2026. She was born on November 26th, 2008, in Garden City, KS.</p><p><br></p><p>Joela was the beloved daughter of Shannon (Knoll) and Kimberly West of West Plains, MO and Christopher Lobmeyer of Garden City, KS. She was the favorite sister to Jairus Lobmeyer of Lawrence KS, and Cephas and Silas Lobmeyer of Garden City, KS.</p><p><br></p><p>Joela attended and graduated from St. Dominic Catholic School and was a student at Garden City High School.</p><p><br></p><p>Joela had a passion for movies, TV series and music. She was involved with the broadcasting program at GCHS. She loved singing karaoke, and could often be found enjoying bird watching with her binoculars and the Merlin app. She loved swimming in any body of water, even when the temperature was too cold for most people. Video games brought her much joy. Her kind spirit, unique interests, fun sense of humor, and beautiful smile will live in the hearts of her loving family, best friends, numerous buddies, and forever be remembered. Joela was the light and the spark of joy in every room she entered with her smart wit and silly jokes. She was our most blessed peacemaker, and it is with deep sorrow that we release her into the arms of the Prince of Peace.</p><p><br></p><p>In addition to her immediate family, Joela is survived by her grandfather Kenny Knoll of Minneapolis, MN and her grandmother Debi (Hendrickson) Asper of Garden City, KS as well as many aunts, uncles and cousins. She is preceded in death by her grandparents Marion and Joan (Albers) Lobmeyer of Garden City, KS. Joela is also preceded in death by her cousins Erica and Brad Hendrickson, as well as great-grandparents Don and Ada Hendrickson and Tim and Edith Knoll.</p><p><br></p><p>A viewing and family visitation will be held from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Monday, July 13, 2026, at Garnand Funeral Home in Garden City. An Orthodox Christian funeral service will be held at 10:00 AM on Tuesday July 14, 2026, at the St. Dominic Catholic Church Parish Center in Garden City with Father Philip Vreeland presiding. Burial will follow at Valley View Cemetery in Garden City. Lunch will be served at the St. Dominic Parish Center. The family requests memorials be given to the Friends of Lee Richardson Zoo for the Aviary or for a memorial at Dauphin Island Bird Sanctuaries both in care of Garnand Funeral Home, 412 N. 7th St., Garden City, Kansas 67846.</p><p><br></p><p>“…Her love for you has not left this world, it is still inside of your heart…” -Avatar: The Last Airbender”</p><p><br></p><p><br></p>November 26, 2008 - July 9, 202611/26/200807/09/2026

Joela was such a blessing. Will always remember our underwater swim races and her joy at playing table games. Her sweet spirit lives on in heaven. We are sad for lives without her. Prayers to all who have loved her.
