<p>Maria Luisa Sanchez Nunez</p><p>April 16th 1943 - July 9th 2026</p><p><br></p><p>Mother & Care Giver - the Original Fearless Girl.</p><p><br></p><p>Born in Sabana Grande, Puerto Rico to Don Luis Sánchez and Doña Julia Nuñez and moved to New York City at the age of 8. Luisa, as she was known by family, landed in Chelsea and was raised on the Upper West Side. She then moved to Brooklyn where she started her own family.</p><p><br></p><p>Always the warrior, Mama later relocated to the Bronx in the early 1970's and bore her two youngest children. One tiny woman with an enormous heart who raised 5 kids on her own with little outside support. Yeah, she did that!</p><p><br></p><p>Always tenacious, she persevered through hardships, but never lost her sense of humor along the way. A constant jokester with a sharp edge. Maria could make you laugh as soon as give you a knuckle sandwich. That was the beauty of her duality; both tender & rocky, stern but brittle - all at the same time.</p><p><br></p><p>Mama was truly one of a kind, born of a different mold & cut from lost cloth. Never to be replicated or replaced. She will live on in our hearts & minds forever the fiesty, but loveable Mom that she'd always been.
