William "Mike" Mitchell Evans

<p><p>William “Mike” Evans age 70 passed away on July 11, 2026.&nbsp; A truck driver for more than 30&nbsp; years, Mike, whose call name was “Hawke”, worked for Millis Transfer until retirement.&nbsp;</p><br> <p>He was a big fan of the Georgia Bulldogs and of NASCAR.&nbsp; Mike loved his family and friends and he would give you the shirt off his back.&nbsp; He also loved to play the claw machine game every time he saw one.&nbsp; The stuffed animals he won would be given to kids at Halloween along with their candy.&nbsp; He also donated bags of stuffed animals to the Children’s Hospital at Christmas.</p><br> <p>He was preceded in death by his wife, Marie Evans, and his parents, John and Lillie B. Evans.</p><br> <p>Survivors include his fiancé, Gail Powell;&nbsp; daughters, Lisa (Clint) Dover, Audrey (Scott) Gallman, &amp; Amber (Rhett) Pritchett; brothers Johnny L. Evans and John Oscar Evans, III; sisters Sue Griffin, Chloe Holloway, &amp; Karen Lynn Hicks.&nbsp; He is also survived by four grandchildren: Josh (Sherika) Dover, Drew (Jade) Dover, Seth Gallman (Makayla), and Brooke Gallman; and five great-grandchildren Jase, Bodhi, William, Scarlet, and Violet Dover.</p><br> <p>Services for Mr. Evans will be in the Chapel of Jones Funeral Home on Wednesday, July 15, 2026 at 3 p.m. with Rhett Pritchett officiating.&nbsp; Burial will follow in the New Hope-Kilgore Cemetery.&nbsp; The family will receive friends from noon until 3:00 p.m. prior to the funeral service.</p><br> <p>Jones Funeral Home, 215 W. Walnut Street, in Chatsworth is in charge of arrangements for Mr. William “Mike” Evans.</p></p>
