Daniel Elliott Bayer

<p>Daniel Elliott Bayer, 77, husband of Kenna Barnes Bayer, passed away suddenly on Saturday, July 11, 2026. He was born in Hagerstown, MD and was the son of the late Daniel and Ogreta Dewease Bayer.</p><p><br></p><p>Elliott worked for and retired from Roanoke City Social Services after many years of service.</p><p><br></p><p>In addition to his loving wife of 54 years, Kenna Barnes Bayer, he will be missed and remembered by his brother, Ralph Bayer and his wife, Cathy of Roanoke; his sister, Minnie Bayer of Hollins, VA; close friends, Robert Puig of Roanoke, Carl Johnson of Rocky Mount, VA, and Myra Owens of Richmond, VA; as well as a very special cousin, who was more like a sister, Carolyn Latsch.</p><p><br></p><p>There will be an informal celebration of life for family and friends on Wednesday, July 22, 2026 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Simpson Funeral Home, 5160 Peters Creek Road. This will be a time of sharing stories and remembering Elliott.</p><p><br></p><p>In lieu of flowers and to honor Elliott’s life memorial donations may be made to Feeding America Southwest Virginia, 1025 Electric Road, Salem, VA 24153 or to LOA Meals on Wheels, 4932 Frontage Road NW, Roanoke, VA 24019. Both of these organizations were very dear to him and it would a fitting way to continue his example of service to others.</p><p><br></p><p>Expressions of sympathy may be sent to www.simpsonfuneral.com</p><p><br></p>
