<p>In Loving Memory of Lampros Vergis</p><p><br></p><p>It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved Lampros Vergis, who lived an extraordinary and blessed life of 101 years. His long life was filled with love, family, friendship, and cherished traditions that will continue to inspire all who knew him.</p><p><br></p><p>Lampros was born in 1925 on the beautiful island of Tilos, Dodecanese, Greece, the place that always remained closest to his heart. In 1968, he immigrated to Canada in search of new opportunities before making his permanent home in 1978 on 32nd Street in Astoria, New York, where he lived with pride and dignity until the very end of his life.</p><p><br></p><p>Known affectionately as the oldest Tillian in New York, Lampros was deeply respected within the community and remained a proud ambassador of his beloved island throughout his life.</p><p><br></p><p>One of his greatest passions was fishing. He treasured the countless days spent on the waters of Long Island with his dear friends, proudly catching porgies—his favorite catch and a source of endless joy and stories.</p><p><br></p><p>Lampros also loved spending time at the Nisirian Leski, where he shared laughter, memories, and countless games of cards with lifelong friends. Those moments of fellowship meant the world to him and created friendships that lasted a lifetime.</p><p><br></p><p>Above all else, Lampros was devoted to his family. Nothing brought him greater happiness than spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, playing with them, sharing stories, and creating memories they will cherish forever.</p><p><br></p><p>He is lovingly survived by his 3 daughters and 3 son-in-laws; his 9 grandchildren, whose family has grown to 16 including their spouses; and his 16 great-grandchildren, all of whom were blessed by his love, wisdom, and unwavering presence.</p><p><br></p><p>His legacy of kindness, resilience, humility, and love will live on in the hearts of his family, friends, and everyone fortunate enough to have known him.</p><p><br></p><p>In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made in Lampros’s memory to the churches on his beloved island of Tilos, Greece. Please contact the family to make a donation, as they will personally deliver all contributions to the churches on the island in his honor.</p><p><br></p><p>The family extends their heartfelt gratitude for your love, prayers, support, and condolences during this difficult time.</p><p><br></p><p>May his memory be eternal.
