<p>Jon Mooar</p><p>October 10, 1942- September 1, 2026</p><p><br></p><p>Jon Ross Moaar, age 83, of Anderson, passed away Tuesday, September 1, 2026, at his home, surrounded by his family.</p><p><br></p><p>Born in Columbus, OH, he was the son of the late Joseph Ross Swearengin, and the late Ruth Ellen Hoffman. </p><p><br></p><p>Jon was a proud United States Army veteran who also faithfully served his country in the National Guard. Throughout his life, he worked as a machinist, drafter, and rifle instructor, a role in which he took great pride. A talented marksman, Jon earned numerous first place shooting titles and was honored as the recipient of a Hero Award from the state of South Carolina. Above all, Jon was a devoted family man and a loving father and grandfather who treasured his family deeply. In his later years, he continued his life of service by giving back to his community as a member of Vets Helping Vets Anderson and the Campbell Patriot Honor Guard. Through Vets Helping Vets, Jon generously gave his time to cutting grass, building wheelchair ramps, and helping veterans and their spouses who were no longer able to do these things for themselves. He presented military honors for countless veteran’s funeral ceremonies in his time with the Campbell Patriot Honor Guard. Jon was an Avid mountain hiker, and loved to be outdoors. His willingness to serve others reflected the same sense of duty, compassion, and patriotism that guided him throughout his life. Jon was of the Christian faith and a member of Oakwood Baptist Church. He leaves behind a legacy of service to his country, his community, his faith, and, most importantly, his family.</p><p><br></p><p>Jon Is survived by his wife of 46 years, Doraine Mooar, their children, David Mark Pelletier (Dec. Janet), Janice Gloria Sgroi (Robert), Debra Estelle Hughes, Jon Eric Mooar, and Christina Frances Wilson (William). He is also survived by 10 grandchildren, and 8 great-grandchildren. </p><p><br></p><p>Along with his parents, Jon was preceded in death by his first wife, Beatrice Mooar, his daughter, Denise A. Jon Ross Moaar, age 83, of Anderson, passed away Tuesday, September 1, 2026, at his home, surrounded by his family.
